5 Reasons Why I'm Not Going to DWP

When somebody ask me,
"Will you be at DWP too?"

No doubt, many friends of mine from around Indonesia and even abroad are come in to the J City to watch the famous Djakarta Warehouse Project. As well as asking for the venue, transport, and accommodation. So why should I join the crowd?
I know, to make a good review, you should attend the event first at least once in your lifetime. But the fact is I never give my interest on this event from the start. It hasn't even started yet but I'm already annoyed.

These are my reasons why I'm not going to DWP:

1. Not my cup of tea of music genre
I'm a fan of oldies, especially 90's music that makes me feel so good every single time. When I'm driving, when I'm in the shower, when I'm working, when I do workout. I'm always listening for pop music genre, because electronic dance music doesn't work on me, they doesn't make me wanna cry happy tears.
Moreover, I ain't a party folk like the new generation. Oldies generations are more calm and almost never get rushed or make some riots in front of the stages. It's an understanding peaceful entertainment.

2. Pricey
Am I really ready to spend millions rupiahs for 1 day or even 3 days of concert?
While accommodation cost and meals are still not included of course. Unless you're a VIP, in which case the prices and the benefits are in comparable reason.
It's better for me to spend my money and watching another favorite music festival that I can fully enjoy.

3. Too crowded
DWP is the most popular festival in a year, not only for Jakarta resident, but also for domestic and even international visitors. No more free moving or dancing, because there's no space at all. It seems like all the population of entire city plopped down together on the festival grounds. What's the point of watching a concert if you can not see the performers clearly from a closer range?

4. Many peoples are drunk
Did you know that most of the festival audience I know drink little or much alcohol? Well, I'm not one of them, especially not at a music performance.
I can't fully blame on them, because usually there's some alcohol drinks or beers become the main sponsors of the event. But, this is Jakarta, part of Indonesia. You don't need to drink much something alcoholic to looks cool and get around the festival grounds.

5. Everything for social media
No wonder, people comes for their social media contents. Instagram story, timeline, and hashtag to get attention in the real life. Sometimes I miss the moment when people share their real moments on social media, not as an art display. Many attend DWP for the music, but we can't resist a lot of social media climber who want to show off to have a festival-like experience only. They aren't the real fans of the artist, and I don't want to give a damn on it. I just want to have so much more fun at festivals that are exactly festivals with fans and not primarily people who showed up for some perceived prestige.

Certainly it isn't just the lacks I mentioned above, DWP also has a lot of fun. But for me personally, I just don't feel like it. That's why I write this post, to open up your mind there are so many great festivals out there which are completely worth it.
